Syringa Tree 1 – Pruned

Haiku 220

Oopsie! A crew cut!

Catching the setting sun in its bare branches, both the syringa tree and the photo are over-exposed!

Syringa Tree 2

Every six or so years we have the large trees in our garden heavily pruned. It just keeps them in check. We’d gone round the garden several times with the tree guy, making sure he knew exactly what we wanted pruning and by how much.

The boss got his guys set up and then left. There were about five men all round the garden hacking back various trees and bushes, armed with ladders and chainsaws.

We also left them to it – did not want to be anywhere near all those chainsaws! – which is how the syringa got more of a close shave than we intended.

Syringa Tree 3 – Pruned

After only two weeks I spotted this new growth sprouting from a smaller branch. After another two weeks I noticed even the thick branches were beginning to push out a few budding leaves.

In no time at all the syringa will be growing new small branches covered in leaves.

Hopefully, it won’t need pruning for another six years!

I just love that shot of the new growth and your great poem!😁 I’m glad the tree recovers quickly and after having to deal with a tree company recently, I hope my trees go through a very slow growth decade!😁

Your tree is heavily pruned like the trees that line our roads. To prevent falling brunches and keeping it neat. These are how our trees along the roads look like after a trim the NParks do.

That’s what happens when you leave a bunch of men unsupervised!! 🤗 But your Syringa tree is having the last laugh…..and a beautiful sight to see those sprouts. Great Haiku.

      haha Apparently it is! 😀
We’ve pruned this syringa many times and it always bounces back – far too quickly! It’s fun to watch. 😀

Well we got them to remove all the branches as there were 2 large trucks full. We’re not allowed to burn things here – smoke free zone – (except for a braai = barbecue). And one of the guys said the syringa doe not burn well – too acrid I think.

Free wood is free wood my dear.

Dried well most everything (expect that mucked around by man) burns cleanly if you get it hot enough.

Remember too that if the world goes crazy, the last thing anyone will be worried about is the quaint little rules they push on us today.

        Keep safe.
